Here are some upcoming dates
you need to aware of:
Friday, October 31st - HAPPY
HALLOWEEN!
Hello
parents! I am writing to let you know about the band uniform
fittings for all seventh and eighth grade band students. Since
the marching band is comprised of all seventh and eighth grade
band students, the band booster board and I decided to have
the band uniform fittings after a marching band practice.
At this time we cannot afford to give up any class instructional
time during the day or give up any after school practice time
to fit the uniforms. Therefore, we will be fitting the band
tops and hats this Thursday, October 30th (after band practice)
from 5:15 until 6:00pm. All seventh and eighth grade band
students should plan on being picked up at 6pm. I apologize
for the short notice but appreciate your support in this matter.
We wanted everyone fitted at least a week and a half before
Veteran's Day Parade. This would allow you and the students
time to make sure they have their uniform top, pants, hat,
shoes, and gloves for the parade.
Here are the most recent reminders you need to be aware of:
1.
Uniform pants money is due for all seventh and eighth grade
band students on Monday (tomorrow, October 27th) at $ 25 per
person. The pants should arrive late this week or early next
week already hemmed.
2.
******* We will be having required or mandatory band uniform
fittings this Thursday, October 30th from 5:15pm until 6pm
after marching band practice. This is the only time the board
will be present to fit the students. All seventh and eighth
grade band students must be there for fittings. It should
not take long to fit the tops and hats. Please pick up your
student at 6pm on Thursday. *******
3.
Please make sure your seventh and eighth grade band student
has white shoes (see examples in the band room if needed)
and white cotton gloves (NOT knit gloves or winter gloves).
The gloves can be purchased at area music stores and must
be cotton gloves. The kids have told me the gloves look like
Mickey Mouse gloves. That amused me. Anyway, I must approve
the shoes and gloves PRIOR to the parade.
If they do not fit the specifications sent home in the uniform
pants letter, then I will not accept them. All of the band
students MUST look "uniform" or
look exactly alike.
4.
The marching band's first performance is scheduled for Tuesday,
November 11th in the Veteran's Day Parade. This is a school
holiday but your student is expected to attend. The date has
been published and announced to your students since August.
You will hear more details about this parade when you receive
the permission slip to sign in the next week or two. Please
be very supportive of your students and encourage them to
practice daily!
Thank
you for your support of your student and the band program.
I look forward to seeing you after uniform fittings on Thursday
at 6pm.
Sincerely,
Steffanie Seek
